From what I can see this motorcycle remains very close to its original factory specification and presents in truly superb condition throughout. The notable modification is the fitment of a Delkevic exhaust system, which complements the bike well while retaining its character the original is also present and included in the sale.
Powered by Yamaha's renowned 998cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine producing approximately 180bhp, the R1 combines outstanding performance with the engineering refinement that made it one of the benchmark superbikes of its era. The bike is equipped with Yamaha's advanced YCC-T ride-by-wire throttle and YCC-I variable intake systems, delivering strong performance across the rev range together with precise throttle response and excellent rideability.
The aluminium Deltabox chassis and aluminium braced swingarm are matched to fully adjustable 43mm upside-down front forks and a fully adjustable rear monoshock suspension system, giving the bike the sharp handling, stability and rider feedback for which the R1 became renowned. Braking performance comes from twin 310mm front discs with radial-mounted calipers and a 220mm rear disc, while a factory-fitted steering damper further enhances stability at speed.
Factory specification also includes fuel injection, lightweight cast aluminium wheels, digital instrumentation incorporating speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and trip computer functions, LED rear lighting and Yamaha's factory immobiliser system.
